The 35 Hours

.

So I am doing ride share from craigslist

going from LA to Austin TX

As much as how sketchy as it sounds, I think it is just more time-saving then trying to hitch a ride

.

John who I ve been contacting with was finally finishing his haircut which made him an hour late

But you know, you just gonna look good cuz haircut is something you don’t wanna mess with

.

John called, I got down from Ashley’s place as quick as I could, sitting outside of the parking lot gate waiting

There was this older Asian man wandering around the gate, Okay, creepy

(Despite the fact that I am another Asian dude just sitting there, but hey at least I am cute)

All the sudden, the creepy Asian turned to me and asked “Austin?”

I went….hmmm No…I am Boris…Ohoh, yeah well I am heading to Austin…

.

NO way, He is JOHN? A 40 years old looking Asian guy is using craigslist ride share with a 420 friendly post!?

Mind-blown. Woa.

.

Anyways

He has a little Korean twist when he talks, its not much of an accent, it just that little twist that every bilingual has I suppose

So apparently we were going to head north  to pick up Louisa (Totally out of the way)

Fine with me, I don’t have a real plan after all

John mentioned that Louisa is a English Activist for food waste, and she is just visiting

Woa, I love weird freaking stories.

And John himself is heading to Austin for a high end sushi restaurant as the potential sushi chef lead!

HOW COOL!

.

We already starting to talk A LOT. John was working as a sushi chef at the restaurant in freaking Malibu! Fancy!

He is also married with three kids, I wonder what does her wife think about him doing this whole ride share thing

.

We finally got to Santa Barbara and picked up Louisa

WOW

She is on her barefoot, hippie causal, and DREADLOCKS

What kind of English is that? Of course she speaks a fluent English accent

.

She is badass tho however, she tried to hitchhike from San Francisco to LA but only she succeed

Not sure if anyone would like to pick up a barefoot English with dreadlocks

.

Louisa is a very nice lady as you can imagine, I do find that we have a lot of beliefs in common

As much as how the society is wasting food, and where we stand on the homeless problem

US incarceration and the fact that US has more prisons than schools, list goes on.

We had a great conversation while John was snoring in the back seat.

.

John however is another talking machine as he never shuts up, but I love it!

I love stories and especially older people who love sharing their life experience and don’t mind my shitty responses

John has said so much about Asian and food history, a total history geek.

I do respect him as a chef knowing how much he knows about food and history.

.

This is a very long ride but it went by so quickly as I ve got the best companies

.

We finally dropped Louisa at New Mexico and wished her luck on find a way to get to Taos

We then picked up another girl…..Amanda..

.

Amanda is another story, She was born and raised in Southern Texas while she doesn’t own a southern accent

She moved to Austin 5 years ago however and she claims Austin is the best city in the US

Errrr…. Girl, let me just say, you can’t really say that if you haven’t been to Seattle

.

You can sorta tell Amanda is a spiritual person in some way through her talking and attitude

Turned out she was also growing up christian and she grew out of it, just like me

But unlike her, I am not quite into Shaman

I do believe in spiritual in some ways or others, but I just don’t know

Amanda likes to be connected with the mother earth and thinks that Native American are doing such good job

I agree, but Shaman scares me

Interestingly, Amanda also told me about this World Citizenship

where you can give up your own citizenship in return to join this World Citizenship

and you get to live in another counties that are part of it. I need to do further research on that!

.

It was such 35 hours talking to all these amazing strangers. John, Louisa, Amanda and me were all talking and arguing about what we believed in, it was awesome.

Only bummer of the ride was John kept speeding and we got pulled over in Ceder Park outside of Austin in 2AM

They questioned us so much just because we looked totally out of the blue

Asking if we knew each other, and it was a funny time looking at the cops reaction to our stories.

They however found my leftover Pot from my backpack….

They only gave me a ticket tho, they seemed pretty nice knowing I am traveling from Washington and just graduated

.

Man, $276 gone just like that.

.

Still an amazing 35 hours experience. I didn’t take any pictures just because they didn’t want to

and also I forgot to because I was  having such good time.

Best luck to all of them with their adventures!

.

And Hello Austin TX, keep it weird.

Moving On. Enough Rest.

.

So After a full long two weeks of slacking

I am officially to announce I will be leaving LA tomorrow lol

I will be hitting the road after I finish up my business here

Can’t say it just because nothing is set just yet

It’s been a great two weeks since my cousin helped me out and treated me as I’m the King

.

Possibly gained weight even

and I checked….

gained 2 pounds NOOOO!

but sure I would lose it all in the next two weeks

Here are some pictures I took for the past two weeks

and I will keep you all updated what happens next

🙂

.

My cousin Ashley is the BEST! Been having a great time with her

Will definitely miss her and her silliness

WE ARE SO STUPID LOL

09.07.2014 Get it on. SF.

.

Woke up at Ross’s place hungover from the Alcohol consumption last night

Got myself ready and remember Ross said to not wake him up, so I left onto my solo adventure again

Left a little Seattle Key Chain on the wall as a thank you gift 🙂 Of course he’s not gonna notice till later

.

Back on the road. I took 29 to the Baker Beach and followed another passenger down a trail off the bus stop

It leaded to an open sandy area entering into a parking lot

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

With signs on the right directing people to the Golden Gate Bridge trail

I took the beach route first followed by the upper trail

I did climbed a few rocks at the end of the long beach to take some amazing pictures with the best view

.

DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO

.

I walked along the beautiful trail all the way to Golden Gate Bridge. Gorgeous indeed.

.

DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO

.

I then sat by the waterfront to finish my journal for last night

Walked along the shore and saw some happy laughter and hot sexy surfing actions

Checked out the Palace of fine art, walking through the crowd of couples alone was awesome 🙂

.

DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO

.

Realizing it might be the last day to be in SF, I quickly planned what else I wanted to see

I hurried myself to get back to Castro for the GLBTQ Museum before it closed at 5pm

then I headed back to Union Square for the “World Famous” Cable Car

BTW, need to thank Claudia who took me to the Cable Car station, she was so nice and walked me to it

Had a nice chat, wish you all the best, girl!!

.

DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO

.

I would say the tram in Hong Kong is a way better deal and experience if you ever wanted to take the SF Cable Car

Of course only if you don’t mind spending a few extra hundreds of dollars to fly to Hong Kong

.

Jeff texted me to meet him at the Castro for drinks. Great.

Back to the Castro. Again.

Jeff then took me to a couple of bars and chatted

I could express well enough how much I appreciated Jeff’s help for everything. Really.

He offered me another night to stay if I got nowhere else to go.

But…where else could I go?

Ross brought my backpack later that night….another person I couldn’t say thank you enough to

.

Jeff started playing his video game again with his sunglasses on

Such an interesting guy. He cracks me up.

.

We hugged goodbye the next morning after I secretly put another Seattle Key Chain under the pillow

I then was on my way to LA

.

SF. I had fun and a crazy experience as a homeless person looking for a shelter

and I had good people who helped me

They might not be super willing to help but they did 🙂 haha

.

The goodness in people. Once again proven.

09.06.2014 Wandering Around SF. Luckiest Bastard in the Universe.

.

Woke up in Jeff’s place feeling so lucky and appreciated Jeff letting me stayed for a night

He offered me shower and everything

He then had an doctor appointment and his own craps to deal with, so I packed my stuffs and left

He dropped me off at a cafe and wished me luck

.

I got my Almond milk Latte and wandering around the Castro district looking like a complete fool

Why? Cuz my giant stupid backpack!

I needed to find a place for this stupid backpack!

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

Then without any notice…”BORIS!?” someone yelled from a distance

I looked over…..I saw someone that I knew I’ve met for sure…but….I didn’t recall…lol

.

He then went and told me we met in Seattle through our mutual friend that ONE time

I then rand the bell right away!! (Let’s call him Ross not sure if he is cool about me talking about his name)

Me and Ross chatted on the street for a bit, then he offered I could put my backpack in his place for now

ARGH! Indeed I am the luckiest bastard in the universe

.

He drove me back to his place and we went out for lunch after I dropped off the backpack

Again, he bought me lunch…

How the world do I get so lucky that I am getting free rides, free stays and now free food!

I am amazed….

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

I then took off to the Golden Gate Park which was near by

As Ross had to take his car to San Jose for maintenance

.

DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO

.

It was a pretty park but indeed HUGE like what Ross told me

Should have prepared

.

My phone then died so I decide to go to the Fisherman’s Wharf instead of the Bridge

I took the 31 bus to the ferry landing

There were so many Asians… So different from Seattle

.

I got to the Pier 39 and once again I am a tourist again

The chao and trouble looking for a place to stay had made me forgot I am a tourist!

I happily took out my GoPRo hero proudly and started taking pictures

.

DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO DCIM100GOPRO

.

Pier 39 is somehow like Pike Place

I needed to text Ross or Jeff to find out my staying situation so I went in a Japanese Bar for Happy Hour

.

Sat down took forever for the bartender to approach me. FINE.

Got my beer. Got my sake.

I was happy

.

Then I started to talk to an old but cute couple next to me

They were so chatty and nice

Especially Donna who made me swear to buy pepper-spray for my trip

Robert was just talking crap about the airline weapon guideline is BS lol

I loved them, Donna even gave me her contact info. and told me to contact her if I ever needed anything from the Bay area

I am flattered by the goodness in people. I am loved.

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

Donna and Robert made my day

.

But then I was back to reality trying to figure out where to stay for the night again

I went back to Castro since that’s where I was last night

.

Jeff was busy that night and Ross hasn’t responded to my text

Then I got a text from an unknown number that happened to be ROSS!

I saved the wrong number! What a dummy!

Ross told me I could stayed with him for the night

Oh my….It must be KARMA! It has to be! It finally pays off!

.

Ross told me if I wanted to stay out late, he could join me and maybe showed me around

PERFECT!

I do needed to check out the nightlife in Castro after all

We ended up going to Badlands, Toad Hall and Mix

I liked the 80’s music they played sometimes

Chill! My type!

and there goes my night.

09.05.2014 Friday Dawn. Going in SF Clueless.

.

After Chris picked me up from Sacramento

We headed to SF and we had such a good time catching up

.

I met Chris years ago when he went up to Seattle to work in a Shinto Shrine

Now he is back in Sacramento, so it was really nice to see him

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

Chris was shocked and worried after he knew my plans to hitchhike

He then bought me dinner and claimed that it would be my last meal for the next two months…right!

That’s exactly what everyone were saying

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

I basically came in SF without having a place to stay tonight

I sent out 30 ish requests on couchsurfing…. nothing!

I looked up hostels around the area and everything for the weekend is booked

I am not going to spend $150 for a hotel per night

.

Almost to the end of dinner, one guy replied me on couchsurfing

A 45 Indian guy who would work till midnight, and I would have to share bed with him

Great….. but no that I have a choice. I “gladly” accepted

I gave him my number and waited for his text in the next few hours

.

DCIM100GOPRO

.

Meanwhile! Miracle happened!

.

So I talked to a Jeff from SF who went to PAX last week in Seattle, and he texted me!

I quickly told him my situation, and he said he could take me if I got no where else to go!

.

I asked if I would be safe with him in his bed….LOL

He said yes in a gentleman manner

.

I turned down the creepy Indian guy and stayed at Jeff on the first night in SF

Didn’t have to sleep on the street

.

I was relieved

Sacramento Stop

.

After a whole week of road trip camping

Through Crater Lake and Yosemite National Parks

with Intense hikes and heat

.

Simon and Chao just dropped me off at Sacramento.

Apparently the library I was trying to go is closed.

So I walked another 30 minutes to find another one.

State Library is beautiful here.

Waiting for Chris to come pick me up 🙂

Then I will be headed to San Francisco!

.

Here’s the pictures I have taken in the past week..
